Sometimes you say that the latest ain't the best and thats true for sure, but when it comes to Convertxtodvd so is it always recommended to have the latest Stable release/version installed due to new features, tweaks, bug fixes etc.


1 - The main RULE when making a file convert to DVD is that you NEVER add more then 4 hours of video to a DVD5 disc.

Original filesize is not critical. Total playing time is.............
You can have 20Gb AVI that has only 15 minutes of video or 1Gb AVI that has 180 minutes.

In general -
120 minutes fits without any loss of quality.
180 to 240 minutes - usually no visible loss of quality.
over 240 minutes - some loss, depending on lot of factors.

These values are for DVD quality original.
HD quality will always lose detail when converted to DVD.


2 - Set the Encoding Quality to 'High' under 'Settings' -> "Encoding".

2.1 - If u have a low quality source file so it there absolutely no need 2 set the Quality to 'High', 'Medium' is enough.

2.2 - It happens that a DivX/XviD/x264 AVI file contains a Bad/Corrupt File Header. There is a risk then that the output will become a little ****ed up so 2 say.... A/V sync issues etc. But fixing a file with a Bad/Corrupt File Header is easy..... you run the file through VirtualDub and use this procedure.

Fixing Bad/Corrupt File Headers

- Run VirtualDub
- Load your original file (File -> Open File...)
- Choose 'Direct Stream Copy' in the Video menu
- Choose 'Direct Stream Copy' & 'Source Audio' in the Audio menu
- Choose 'Save as' from the File menu and save the file with a new name.

VirtualDub-MP3 Freeze is a tweaked release based on the old VDub v1.4c. This specific release have MP3 VBR support and video freeze frame detection.


3 - Make sure that 'DeInterleave' Option is unticked under 'Settings' -> "Image Processing" if you dont have a DV source file


4 - Make sure you have set the correct 'Video Standard' under 'Settings' -> "TV Format". (This depends on where in the world you are living.)


5 - Set 'Target Size' to 4350Mb under 'Settings' -> "Encoding" (By doing this so do you make sure u don't get too close 2 the edge of the DVDR when you burn the movie).

5.1 - When you burn the convert make sure ALWAYS use High Quality Media { Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim (Made In Japan), Maxell (Made In Japan) or Verbatim (Made in Taiwan) }

5.2 - NEVER burn any faster then 6x.

Nah, don't think so. The user guide thats available over @ VSOs Support Page is very nice. Sure it a few 'bugs' in it but they wont update it until v3.00 have been released.

The Guidelines/Recommendations i put 2geather give a new User some 'extra' knowledge about the software and these 'extras' ain't mentioned in the User Gudie

Hi everyone. Any idea why my dvd player reads bad disc when I let convertx to burn the disc? If I burn the same ts folder with dvd santa on the same disc no problem. Thanks.
