On opening the ahead software you are greeted with a tip or information about the program like its capabilities you can simply carry on viewing these on screen messages by simply clicking next or if you wish to disable this feature by un-checking the small box situated on the left hand side will stop the on screen start up messages. (or simply press close to continue).



The user face i feel looks GOOD and the top banner indeed almost says it all THE EASY WAY


First you will notice there is no top tool bar or even a option / setting tab which keeps the user face looking clean. Towards the bottom of the display you are presented with 4 pleasant graphic boxes ....


PADLOCK : simply click on this to enter you registry details which can be done on or offline.

EMAIL ENVELOPE : by clicking on this it opens your email page in my case outlook express automatically to contact support...(must be online).

HOME : this will take you directly to the ahead home page as long as you are online.

BUOY QUESTIONMARK : this displays the help pages available on or offline .

Now to start the program is very simple indeed , simply insert your desired dvd in which you wish to convert and simply click




The next window displays the option for you to select your source from being a dvd drive or a hard drive folder.


On the next window after you have proceeded by pressing the ok button you are presented with the heart of the program , simply check the output format you wish to proceed with for my test i have chosen AVI / WMV you also have the option to select your individual scenes or title sets but to keep this simple i will proceed with a backup of the full dvd


On the next display you are also well presented with a few extra options which are quite self explanatory and you are also given the option to select your hard drive folder manually if you wish and also to overwrite the existing data previously left behind in the output folder.


The next step is your final one hit the start button and let the process begin .
The onscreen preview window works a treat and you also have the option to pause the encoding if needs be you can also stop the process at anytime and you can view your newly converted material but be warned this will only play up to the point you ended the rip




All in all this program is a doddle to use and the basic setup is extremely simple the out put quality is very good on the two formats that i chose to use being AVI / WMV i would also like to point out that i used a cartoon animated movie as well as a normal feature length film to see if there would be any difference . none was noticeable in both outputs .
One more thing i would like to comment on is that i have a couple of dvd’s in which previous trials of software have only enabled me to rip the largest video file in any one session this was not the case with this ripper it ripped the entire dvd quickly and perfectly . i viewed all the outputs on windows media player 10.
Before running this test i also emailed the ahead ripper support , and true to there words i had a reply within 24 hours ,
i would also like to point out with the professional addition there is no need for any other decryption software to be installed but there is also a se version available too
