Default WinXP for gamers??

Greetings,

I have a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz computer. I am presently upgrading it. I am not into overlocking but am looking at ways to make it run faster. A colleague at work who was into gaming told me that there is a WinXP for gamers. No, its not an official Microsoft release but an unofficial stripped down version of WinXP that leaves out most of the unused features such as backgammon, movie maker, and Outlook Express.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this? He also says there is also a WinXP Lite.

Is there a way of leaving out such unwanted features of WinXP at installation?

Default WinXP for gamers??

Thanks for the replies. I have since did some research on the net concerning the disabling and/or deletion of unwanted programs that are part of the installation of WinXP. In short the person installing WinXP has little control over what programs are being installed along with the WinXP operatingsystem. Programs like backgammon, Outlook Express and movie maker are installed like it or not.

My conclusion from what I read is that the attempted deletion of these programs could lead to the improper working of Microsoft updates and/or the improper working of other Microsoft programs.

So I am just going to make a normal installation of XP. The new hard drive that I will be installing it on ihas 500GB and I have a secondary drive of 100GB so the space is not a problem. Its just that I will be installing gb's of of programs that I know I will never use.
