Default Halo 2 on XP

I've just been bought Halo 2 for the PC, the only trouble is i don't have vista. Is there anyway to make it run on XP, i've googled it first but the results just take you to dead end links or forums asking the same question. It's still sealed so i can take it back but i just really want a yes you can play it or no you can't answer. Cheers.
