Default Using either Seagate or Maxtor HDD's as ......

Hi
Using Seagate/Maxtor's as boot drives [even with firmware fix! ].
If you have WD HDD's on hand (even if an earlier generation).
Try swapping the Seagate/Maxtor's with the WD's.
The difference is VISIBLE!!!
Faster access/loading.
In fact everything is better.

Maxtor 500GB DiamondMMax 22 STM350032AS

Western Digital HDD's ( WD2500AKS 16MB cache x 2 )

Do not be deceived by the lower Random access:

The times are faster.
WD's seem more stable/reliable too.
Have deliberately crashed PC.
Then rebooted without any problems.
Similar with Seagate/Maxtor wasn't always able to do this without some file fixes etc.
I am rapidly coming to the conclusion Seagate has invested in SSD's.

Even affected the Sammies (more to follow).

With Seagate as drive C: Samsung performance,

With the WD's as drive C:

Whilst the graph is not as smooth as before.
The lowest transfer is still higher than previous tests.
