Default VHS Video casette tape to DVD

I hope that I am posting in the right place.
I am well advanced in making backup copies of my DVD film collection. When that project has been completed I would like to put my older video casette films onto DVD. Any help in this area would be very much appreciated. Is there any software to do it through the computer or can I only do it by linking the video recorder to a DVD recorder.

i used to do this via video player ad dvd recorder using a magic scart lead. the lead was about 30 or 40 quid at the time but i got my money back by doing 2 video to dvds for a forklift training place

it worked a treat but i lent it out and it never returned otherwise i would have sent it to you free of charge but honestly i cannot remember who borrowed it as it was a few year ago

if the material is not copy protected any scart lead will do

Thank you Simple
I guess that to find out if they are copy protected I will just have to link the casette player to the DVD recorder and cross my fingers. Pity about the magic scart lead but if you or anyone else remembers what they call it and/or where it can be purchased from I will be in your debt.

I must be slowing down, I read your offering three times before the joking reference to Simple sank into my brain. I may have been slow to catch on but when I did I thought the add on about simple was very good. Make sure that Simple knows that you were only joking or are you.
Thanks for the site.

I am returning to this to pose another question. I realise that I can backup video cassette films onto DVD by having Video cassette player, scart lead and Video recorder linked together and if my cassettes are copy protected I will need Cassette player-scart lead-decrypter-Video recorder. What I would really like, because I purchased an internal DVD R/W as recommended by Zebadee which is great (thanks again Zeb) is this set-up.
Cassette player-scart lead-decrypting gismo-lead2-computer. Any ideas guys.

You will need something like win-TV on your PC (I think thats how I did it). There are several similar programmes, I just had a mooch round PC world for inspiration looking for something that would accept a PAL signal.
