Default CREATING HD WMV

The first thing you must know about creating / converting to HD WMV is it takes time, so if you are one to moan about how long DVD REBUILDER takes then avoid this process all together this can take from 12 hours to a day or even the best part of a week depending on the size of your source file you want to convert and also the output options.

To start off you will need to convert your movie of choice to AVI format. For this task i used MAGIC DVD RIPPER which can be found here MAGIC RIPPER, although other applications may / will do the job.

Once you have created your AVI file download and install WINDOWS MEDIA ENCODER 9 get it from here OFFICIAL DOWNLOAD
After you have installed WME 9 run the program and follow these simple steps from the microsoft official site to help you along your way

Launch the encoder, which will open the New Session dialog box.

Click the Convert a file wizard and browse for your AVI FILE

Locate file and click the open tab.

Then browse for a output folder , i opted to use the same location as the AVI file. Continue with the NEXT tab

In Content Distribution, click Hardware devices (CD, DVD, portable) followed by NEXT.

By default, you'll be assigned some encoding settings for video, audio, and bit rate.(im still trying to learn the encode settings)

On the next screen displayed you can enter some basic info regarding the file you disire to convert proceed with the NEXT tab.

Review your settings before proceeding as it will be devastating realising you selected the wrong outputs etc after hours of encoding.

After select finish on the above screen the encoding will commence PASS 1

PASS 2

Notice on the second pass the time is estimated over 12 hours but in fact it took around 16 to 17 hours the first pass took just under 4 hours and this does not include the time to convert the original DVD to AVI.
