Default A GUIDE TO SCHTROM360XTRACT

on purching a samsung sh-d162 dvd rom drive you have already won the battle to start backing up your xbox 360 titles and in some cases the standard xbox all though both consoles need to be slightly modified to play the backed up discs (games).

your next port of call once both of the above have been completed download Schtrom360Xtract , for some reason i received a couple of errors while using the latest version which at this time is v 3.1 so i was advised to switch back to v 3.0 but this may not be the case on your system..

this program is really as easy as they come

on opening the program follow the 3 step rule as posted in the image:

if all goes well the above will create all that is needed by creating files to be burned to a dual layer disc ...(note you will require a seperate DL dvd writer).... which you can acheive by using CloneCD or imgburn.

if you get this error(see image below) on starting the program within or upto around 10% , try re-opening the program first , then insert your game into the samsung 162 give it time to load the disc , a good way by acheiving this is to wait while the light stops flashing on the front of the drive and then proceed by selecting extract.

if you get a message similiar to this(see below) during the process the game may indeed be scratched or dirty .. try giving it a wipe with a soft clean cloth if this fails and you still get the error then the condition of your disc is making the rip fail...(you should have backed it up before)

please note the solutions i provided may not work in all cases ...

BURNING THE FILE WITH IMGBURN instead of CloneCD

okay now you have created the files that are needed to create a working backup of a xbox / xbox360 title ,

the next task is now burning the file to your prefered dual layer media personally i would advise the use of verbatims as there as been many good reports with this brand.. (other branded DL media may work)

the first thing to do is download imgburn one of the greatest freeware applications available in the dvd authoring community,, as always i will mention the author of imgburn does indeed accept donations of any size large or small to help with releases of future updates

lets roll

after installing imgburn open the application and in the top tool bar select tools see attached image :

after clicking on the tools tab select settings in the drop down box followed by the write tab, on completion of these two tasks check the user specified box clearly highlighted by the red arrow in the options box titled layer break (for DL media)on checking this the box circled will now become active enter a seven digit code....
(see image below)and exit by pressing ok.

now your almost ready to go on the imgburn userface click on please select file (see image 1) when the next window opens simply select one of the ripped xbox games making sure you select the right file from the two created by the schtrom360xtract or xbox backup creator program (see image 2) you may also select your prefered burn speed at this stage.
1)

2)

finally double check all of the above ...LOL remember dual layer media is far from cheap after you have doubled checked the settings check again , click on the burn file to dvd on the left hand side of the imgburn userface .(see images below)

HAPPY GAMING!!!!! also check the xbox backup creator guide

it has come to my attention that since version 2 of imgburn you no longer have to manually enter the layer break info for the 360 games ... just simply insert the media ,, select the speed ,,,choose the file and hit write image to dvd

i guess it depends on the system setup . i have had 100% sucess no matter what media i have used so far i have had zero coasters i hope as for me your new pioneer drive will resolve this issue ..

i always leave the burn speed at 4x , i have firmware 1.29 , and make sure you never have the verify box checked as this will produce errors.....

trigger tests all the backups created at the moment and the reply i get is SWEEEEEEEET!!!!
