While I had 95 installed I could never get the preview to work either; Alan was going nuts over it so I was reading at their forum and found the info about the ripped files working; a couple of folks there did say that they could preview from the disc if AnyDVD or region-free was running but it would not work with dvd43 running. Go figure.

I managed to get the previews to work also, although the first one I looked at was the movie video but a directors commentary instead of the usual soundtrack

See if the preview windows of Shrink, Clone, and Recode work for you; that ought to tell ya something. Stick with the best. But, then again if you are not out any hard cash then maybe when the bugs are all worked out of it, you will have a nice product.

I may be wrong here but some of the titlesets have no data or filesize. These maybe blank or bad sectors put on by the authors...

If they have no data and preview I delete them before making the backup. Try finding the titlesets that have an actuall file size of more than 1MB and try double clicking the aspect ratio beside that titleset and in my case the preview window will open and play that titleset with sound...

Ditto

I also found that some of the very small ones were blank

You'll find that to be the case when using CloneDVD also. Some movies, especially over the past year, have several titlesets that are 0:00 minutes in length.

The Shrink preview indow works fine and so does the Clondvd2 and recode always worked great just as it does now, this is really pissing me off, I think it might be one of the popup blockers I have, maybe an active X control setting who knows?
