Cyberlink no longer supports HD-DVD.

I'm using AnyDVD HD with the PowerDVD 7.3 that came with my LG GGW-H20L.

I ripped the BR movie to hard disk using AnyDVD HD and then used ImgBurn to create an ISO file.

I like using MagicDisc for virtual CD/DVD drives, so I mount the BR movie's .iso file using MagicDisc.

As soon as the BR .iso is mounted, PowerDVD sees that an HD disc has been "inserted", starts up, and then plays movie from the ISO file just fine.

Only tested with one BR movie (Hitman) so far. I'm getting ready to try another (Fantastic Four).

I'm also discovering that using AnyDVDHD->ImgBurn to create the ISO files may be the long way. I'm getting ready to try a total Slysoft solution (AnyDVDHD->CloneCD) to create the Blue Ray ISO file.

I don't think CloneDVD handles HD content yet. And since CloneCD will use AnyDVDHD as the decrypter in the background, the explicit rip using AnyDVDHD is no longer necessary. It seems that CloneCD is a better ISO creation tool for HD/BR discs than CloneDVD is.

This is my first post, and I'm still learning.

Some good info came from here:

LOL ... that's what I get for having too many FF3 tabs open ...

A second post with duplicate information.

Been at this since 6am, having fun, but I haven't gotten out this chair yet. I'm in love with my LG GGW-H20L.

I need coffee. Better do something else today, this weekend has become quite the learning episode so far. Love these forums.

If you have 7.3, make sure you don't uninstall it ... just install 8 over it, that's what CyberLink suggests at their website, see here,

CyberLink Customer Support - FAQ - Does PowerDVD 8 support HD DVD playback?

I've not tried this 7.3/8 combo personally, 7.3 works fine for what I want.

I have Nero8 installed, and they sell a $30 BluRay/HD DVD plugin separately, which I'm going to buy here shortly.

HD-DVD is dead. I uninstalled 7.3 and installed the upgrade to V8, becuase I am just using Bluray exclusively. So I really dont need both formats. Thanks Though.

If you still have the need for HD-DVD playback then build 319 of version 7.3 is the one to install.

Hey Kip, I know you have been reviewing these drives and programs, and I heard that there is a new format in China and the Far East. I am not really even sure what its called yet.
